This was a little more of a dreary day due to the many clouds, but we still got some neat finds.
0:00 - A stopped KCS freight in Huffman with some rare excavators near the front.
KCS 4107 - EMD SD70ACe
KCS 4789 - GE ES44AC
KCS 4818 - GE ES44AC
KCS 3941 - EMD SD70MAC
1:14 - A UP freight with three dash-9's starts up and leaves the Dayton yard. The sun did come out a few times here.
UP 9686 - GE C44-9W
UP 9624 - GE C44-9W
UP 9712 - GE C44-9W
4:14 - A UP freight idles in the siding as the end of the previous UP freight goes by.
UP 9569 - GE C44-9W
UP 9713 - GE C44-9W
UP 9140 - GE C40-8
4:26 - Some switch action from around Dayton and various stopped units. Three switch trains were moving at the same time!!!
UP 8763 - EMD SD70ACe
BNSF 1704 - EMD SD40-2
UP 8017 - GE AC45CCTE
BNSF 2679 - EMD GP39-3
BNSF 1628 - EMD SD40-2
GCSX 2036 - EMD SD20 (On switch train)
7:16 - The next few trains were my favorite part of the day! A UP freight with some nice modern power moves out of the Baytown line and onto the Lafayette sub.
UP 7625 - GE AC45CCTE
UP 4327 - EMD SD70M
UP 8415 - EMD SD70ACe
8:10 - We went to the mouth of the Dayton yard to wait for the UP freight to leave. While waiting, a truck carrying a strange load heads by on the highway. A truck with a tank trailer followed by as well.
8:32 - A KCS grain train with a TFM leader catches us off guard and flies by. It sounds like the diesel has a leaky horn.
TFM 1627 - EMD SD70MAC
KCS 4153 - EMD SD70ACe
KCS 4142 - EMD SD70ACe (DPU)
10:51 - A CSX stack train (I'm guessing from Florida - I'm bad at identifying trains) with an ex-Con leader heads by.
CSX 7342 - GE C40-8W
UP 5485 - GE AC45CCTE
12:55 - RARE! A BNSF train carrying some kind of chemical heads by with a sweet horn. After this train, Dad and I gave up on waiting for the UP freight and left (although the train got the green light after the BNSF...)
BNSF 7543 - GE ES44DC
BNSF 5213 - GE C44-9W
BNSF 7432 - GE ES44DC
BNSF 5650 - GE AC44CW (DPU)
14:20 - A picture of a stopped UP freight in Liberty with sole SD70Ms. While driving in Raywood, a rather unusual vehicle was on the highway: a very tall farm tractor!! (I think)
UP 4419 - EMD SD70M
UP 4058 - EMD SD70M
UP 4088 - EMD SD70M
15:18 - Back in Dayton, a UP freight with a C40-8 trailing starts up VERY slowly and crawls by.
UP 9710 - GE C44-9W
UP 9332 - GE C40-8
18:39 - Last train of the day: a UP rock train starts up in Huffman and leaves. He was traveling westbound, which is very rare for the Beaumont sub. The KCS train from earlier was still parked in the siding.
UP 9722 - GE C44-9W
UP 9582 - GE C44-9W
UP 9650 - GE C44-9W
